Dog Friendly Holidays in the UK
As a pet owner, choosing a holiday can be incredibly difficult. There’s no denying that you would need the time off, but when you want to spend that time with your beloved canine, it can hard to find a place that will accept the both of you. We at Lovejoys totally understand, and so we’ve scoured the Internet to find our top 5 picks of dog-friendly holidays.
Letheringham Water Mill
Let’s start this list with the Old Stables by the Letheringham Water Mill in Suffolk. It is hosted by Richard and Jacqui - rated “Superhosts” on AirBnB - who won VisitEngland’s “Dog Friendliest” award last year. This gorgeous 2 bedroom cottage is surrounded by the natural beauty of Suffolk. There are 7 acres of gardens and fields and such around the cottage, with a river acting as a natural barrier, an ideal place for walks. The living room is tiled with ceramic wood effect tiles, perfect for pooches who like to get dirty.
The hosts leave a Dedicated Doggy Crate for their four legged guests, which includes dog bowls, a towel, blanket and a treat for them. There is also private off street parking for two cars by the cottage and and an idyllic riverside decking for relaxing in the sun.

The Cholmondeley Arms
Next is the renovated Victorian Schoolhouse pub-slash-bed and breakfast, the Cholmondeley Arms. Located adjacent to the historic Cholmondeley Castle in Malpas, Cheshire, this pub is great for a little break away. Well-behaved dogs (and owners) are welcome in all areas of the pub, with local brews for the humans and specially brewed Belgian beer for canines. The rooms are situated in the “Headmaster’s House” opposite the pub. Whilst here, you are surrounded by the beautiful Cheshire countryside, great for walks.
They have three dog-friendly rooms, with a £10 charge on the room with a dog, all ensuite.

Famous for its walks and panoramic sights, there are also an exciting range of outdoor activities available, such as mountain biking.

All around are elegant spa towns, quaint traditional villages and gentle meandering rivers, making for great walk locations for you and your pooch. Everyday shopping can be found in Middleham and Leyburn, as well as inns and tea-rooms within 3 miles.
Tyddyn Goronwy Camping Park
Last, but by no means least, is the Tyddyn Goronwy Camping Park in North Wales. Here you can camp without having to wrestle pitching a tent while keeping your pet in sight. They have specially designed wooden pods with electricity and heating. All you would have to bring is yourselves and your bedding and cooking equipment. The site is just 2 miles away from the Welsh coast of Barmouth and is also roughly 4 miles from the Cwm Nantol nature trail.
The price of your holiday also includes a free leisure pass to the Tyddyn Goronwy’s sister site, Sunnysands Caravan Park, for its heated indoor pool, cafe, fish and chip shops and other facilities. Your dog will just love being near the sea and the nature that surrounds the Welsh resort.
